PLANTECO provides successfully demonstrated green remediation products and technologies for oil waste.
There are a multitude of technologies available to clean up oil from sediment, soil and water, but the limitation to successful application of most oil remediation technologies is often the due to the site specific conditions in which contamination occurs. At PLANTECO, we use a multidisciplinary team of biologists, geologists, geochemists and environmental engineers to select, design and apply customized remedies that work best for your site. Our results attest to the success of our selected remedies at each site.
Sediment – Depending on the environment where the contaminated sediment is present, PLANTECO uses natural agricultural products and biomass to enhance bioremediation of oil contaminated sediment or cap the contaminated sediment with Organoclays.
Soil – We use demonstrated enhanced bioremediation processes to treat the soil in-situ or ex-situ. We have used selected green plants and the root zone associated microorganisms (Phytoremediation) to remediate oil spill in soil and groundwater simultaneously. Our selection of the remedy is solely determined by the type of site and our Client’s needs.
Water – For open water, PLANTECO uses 100% natural products to instantly bind the oil and stimulate biodegradation of the oil by naturally occurring microorganisms present in the environment. Essentially, we provide what the bacteria need to thrive, and they grow rapidly in large numbers and degrade the oil. For groundwater, we use a variety of mature bioremediation, phytoremediation and chemical oxidation technologies to degrade the oil.
Specific key technologies include:
• Specially formulated organic compost and agricultural products for treatment of sediment in sensitive ecosystems. • Organic Compost Filtration for treatment of oil seeps and paraffin-rich water. • Powdered and Granular Organoclay (POC and GOC) as an active bioremediation layer within a sediment cap. • Microbial mats as biosorbents and enhancers of oil biodegradation in surface water and sediments. • Microbial systems for oil waste sludge and tank cleanup (see Brochure).
